Mercer Health continues to advance its state-of-the-art Surgery Center with the pending addition of the Intuitive da Vinci Xi robotic assisted surgery system. Robotic assisted surgery is the gold standard in a modern day operating room with the technology benefiting both surgeons and patients. The surgeon is 100% in control of the system, which translates his/her hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments. The precision allows for less invasive procedures which results in better patient outcomes. Susan Miller, Chief Nursing Officer at Mercer Health, states, “Reproducible, positive surgical outcomes are vital to providing consistent and high-quality medical care including reduced length of stays, faster recovery times and fewer complications.”
The Intuitive da Vinci Xi robot is expected to arrive later this fall and will be used in many gynecologic and general surgery procedures offered at Mercer Health.
