The MED Foundation recently received a generous grant from the Mercer County Civic Foundation to purchase a Belmont Rapid Infuser for the Mercer County Community Hospital’s Emergency Department.
The Belmont Rapid Infuser enables medical staff to quickly transfuse large amounts of life-sustaining blood products, whole blood, and fluids during critical life-saving situations. The uncertain, urgent, and often uncontrollable nature of trauma and emergency medicine presents unique challenges in treating emergency patients. This rapid infuser is a critical piece of equipment not only in the Emergency Department, but also in other departments for events such postpartum hemorrhage, extensive surgical procedures, and many other events requiring rapid administration of fluids or blood.
