Mercer Health Recognizes Volunteers at Annual Appreciation Banquet

Mercer Health held its annual Volunteer Appreciation Banquet on August 5, 2024 at Romer’s Catering in St. Henry. This annual event is held to celebrate the accomplishments of the members of the Volunteer Association of Mercer Health.

The evening began with an invocation delivered by Volunteer Chaplain Steve Broering and included a recap of the year by Volunteer Chairperson, Terry Liette. The third annual $1,500 Volunteer Association scholarship was awarded to Audrey Wendel of St. Henry. Guest speakers for this year’s event included Mercer Health CEO Lisa Klenke and Mercer Health CFO Jon Dingledine.

“We thank our volunteers for the immeasurably valuable work they provide to our community,” Deb Hemmelgarn, Director of MED Foundation and Volunteer Services, said. “Their dedication is essential to the work that we do and helps us ensure that Mercer Health is meeting its mission-to care for our community.”

The Volunteer Association donated a total of 9,867.5 hours to Mercer Health in 2023. Additional awards distributed at the banquet included:

  • Most Hours to Date: Irene Seitz, 5,540.3 hours
  • 5000 hours: Mary Clapp
  • 3000 hours: Norma Jean Homan, Barb Benner, Dorothy Wendel
  • 1000 hours: Christine Knapke, Ken Gelhaus, Roy Kremer
  • 500 hours: Edna Stout, John Braun, Terry Liette, Steve Gerlach, Kathy Laux, Marlene Fisher, Doris Glass
  • 250 hours: Don Bellman, Mary Keller, Mary Beyke, Dean Schaller, Linda Fesenmyer, Pauline Braun
