Mercer Health Recognized in Top 100 Rural and Community Hospitals in the Nation for 2023, fifth time since 2016

Mercer Health’s Mercer County Joint Township Community Hospital has been recognized as a 2023 Top 100 Rural and Community Hospital.  Compiled by The Chartis Center for Rural Health, this annual recognition program honors outstanding performance among the nation’s rural hospitals based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX™.  Mercer County Joint Township Community Hospital also received this recognition in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2022.  The Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX™ has established itself as the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. Leveraging publicly available data, the INDEX is trusted by rural hospitals, health systems with rural footprints, hospital associations and state offices of rural health across the country to measure and monitor performance across a variety of areas impacting hospital operations and finance.

Mercer Health Recognized with 2023 Outstanding Patient Experience Award

Mercer Health’s Mercer County Joint Township Community Hospital has been recognized as a 2023 Outstanding Patient Experience Award recipient by Healthgrades, a leading resource for information about physicians and hospitals.  Only 5% of hospitals nationwide are awarded this distinction for outstanding patient experience.  Healthgrades evaluates performance by applying a scoring methodology to ten patient experience measures, using data collected with Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey of the hospital’s own patients.  Survey questions focus on patients’ perspectives of their care in the hospital, from cleanliness and noise levels in patient rooms to medication explanations and hospital staff responsiveness to patients’ needs.  The measures also include whether a patient would recommend the hospital to friends or family and their overall rating of the hospital.

“At Mercer Health, we want to do better for our rural communities – by providing the best quality healthcare, right here.  Our organization is anchored by the hospital and by bringing services to each community, we extend some of the top healthcare in the nation to each of our local communities,” states Mindy Kremer, VP of Development, Marketing and Communication at Mercer Health.
