Mercer Health and Community Sports & Therapy Center partner to provide free physical activity challenge

Mercer Health and Community Sports and Therapy Center are collaborating to offer a Healthy Waves Challenge to motivate and encourage the community to be more physically active this summer. The FREE challenge requires participants to complete 1,020 minutes of moderate intensity aerobic activity from June 4 through July 15, 2023.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services site recommends that adults complete at least 150-300 minutes of moderate-intensity each week. Preferably, aerobic activity should be spread throughout the week for substantial health benefits, such as reducing stress levels, boosting the immune system, improving sleep and preventing weight gain.

The Mercer Health Center for Healthy Weight and Wellness recommends getting creative when it comes to your physical activity and ways to stay active. These include outdoor activities (running, walking, biking and hiking); exercising with family, using online fitness resources, taking a virtual class, creating a relay race with kids, biking to work, renting a kayak or canoe, and so many other options.

This year’s challenge will also provide opportunities for Bonus Entries; follow Mercer Health and Community Sports and Therapy Center’s Facebook Pages for a fun challenge announced each week for a chance to win up to six bonus entries. Winners will receive gift certificates for the Mercer County Chamber of Commerce.

Official entry forms can be downloaded at mercer-health.com, cstcenter.com, and https://bit.ly/3W2cAR3.
