Citizens National Bank has generously donated $50,000 towards a private patient suite that will be part of Mercer Health’s Childbirth Center expansion and renovation. The expansion project, located within Mercer County Community Hospital, will provide additional rooms to accommodate the growing number of births, safer space for cesarean procedures, especially during emergent situations, an enhanced nursery with dedicated space for unique patient needs, and continued access to local, compassionate, high‑quality childbirth services.
Delivering on a Promise, the campaign supporting the project, began when the Walter and Evelyn Braun Family made a transformational $1 million gift. Since then, additional donations totaling more than $1,712,200, including the contribution from Citizens National Bank, have been made to the MED Foundation to advance the project.
Deb Hemmelgarn, Director of the MED Foundation and Volunteer Services at Mercer Health, shares, “We are sincerely grateful for the support from Citizens National Bank and the many businesses and individuals who have chosen to invest in the Delivering on a Promise campaign.” Hemmelgarn adds, “Births at Mercer Health have steadily increased over the past decade. Recently, our Childbirth Center set another record with 460 births in 2025. This expansion is essential to support the continued growth of our community and to ensure families who want to stay or return to the area can welcome their children close to home.”
