During your visit to Mercer Health, you may see or overhear patient information. Patient information is confidential and protected by law. Because of this, you must follow the rules below while you are here.
Cell phones are not permitted in clinical areas. You may not have your cell phone out during any shadowing experience. If you are found using your phone or taking photos, you will be asked to leave the facility immediately.
You must keep all patient information confidential after your visit. If you are required to write a report or give a presentation for school, do not describe patients in a way that could identify them. You may discuss patients with the person you are shadowing during your visit, but you may not discuss patients with anyone after your visit.
Failure to follow these rules may result in fines or criminal penalties. If your job shadowing experience is part of an educational requirement, your school will be notified and may take additional action.
