This position reports to the Director of Surgical Services.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Current RN or Scrub Tech certification.
  • BLS within 90 days of hire.
  • ACLS and PALS required for RN’s.
  • Previous experience as a scrub tech within the past 5 years is highly preferred.
  • Related acute care clinical experience in the peri-operative are preferred.

Skill/Ability:

  • Requires knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures and diagnosis.
  • Requires extensive knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment.
  • Must be able to take direct orders and direction from surgeons in intense situations.
  • Must be able to anticipate surgeons/patient needs.
  • Must be able to maintain sterile technique.
  • Requires basic clinical skills in patient assessment and delivery of care for patients of all ages.
  • Must demonstrate and maintain competence in clinical skills.
  • Able to think critically including interpretation, analysis and evaluation.
  • Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently and as a team player especially in intense situations, to exercise good judgment and successfully manage multi-tasking.
  • May be asked to cross train as a circulator for a variety of surgical cases if applicable.
  • Requires call on a weekend and holiday rotational basis.
  • Able to take direction from more than one provider/ coworker at a time under stressful situations.
  • Requires computer and keyboarding skills to meet demands of position.
  • Requires a full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Requires consistent standing in one location for a long period of time while holding retractors.
  • Requires ability to work under stressful conditions and working irregular hours for call.
