Full Time - Day Shift

This is a full-time exempt position, with 24 hour responsibility for the management of the Radiology Service. The individual in the role must demonstrate schedule flexibility to meet the needs of patients and staff.

The Radiology Manager will be responsible for overall functioning and daily operation of the Radiology Department and all services related to medical imaging.  This position reports directly to the Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in radiology or business focus.
  • Current ODH licensure.
  • Registered with American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT), additional ARRT credentials a plus.
  • If applicant does not have CT certification, must obtain within 12 months of hire.
  • BLS within 90 days of hire.
  • Previous leadership/management or supervision experience in healthcare preferred.
  • 5 years clinical experience as a Radiological Technologist preferred.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance, including Joint Commission, and performance improvement processes preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively communicate and collaborate with radiology technicians, radiologists and other medical staff, & administrative staff to provide efficient and professional care to all patients.
  • Personally responsible for department as to its operation, efficiency and safety.
  • Effectively manage employee turnover. Is responsible for the hiring of new employees.
  • Completes performance appraisals in a timely and effective manner. Provides ongoing feedback between assessments to employees regarding performance as well as counsels/disciplines staff according to established company personnel policy.
  • Develops departmental goals and objectives and engages employees to assist in meeting those goals and objectives on an annual basis.
  • Staff scheduling and coordinates work schedules to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency while still providing quality care/service.
  • Leads the development of the radiology department in process improvements in conjunction with the areas’ strategic and operational plans meeting all JC and ODH requirements.
  • Responsible for creation, implementation and maintenance of all policies and procedures for the radiology department.
  • Delegates and works with clinical staff as needed to maintain current standards of care and practice and maintenance of ACR accreditations.
  • Maintains competence in general radiology and CT at minimum.
  • Communicates routinely with the Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer.
  • Review and follow-up of patient complaints and concerns of a clinical nature.
  • Monitors department billing, CPT codes and diagnosis codes.
  • Develops departmental budgets and effectively monitors budget performance on a regular basis; identifies variances and acts to improve budget performance.
  • Review and approve invoices.
  • Monitor PACS and other IT connections with radiologists and EMR.
  • Monitors radiation doses and radiation safety concerns.
  • Monitor equipment service contracts and preventative maintenance.
  • Participate in hospital-based meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and/or needed.

Skill/Ability:

  • Demonstrated written and verbal ability is required to communicate well with others.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of medical imaging theory and practice is essential along with the ability to perform quality medical imaging procedures on patients of all ages.
  • Ability to interact with all departments in the organization.
  • Must be self-directed with an ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, think critically and successfully manage a variety of tasks.
