Part Time - Day/Evening Shift

Shift:                    10:30am – 7:00pm

Status:                  Part-Time; 6 shifts per biweekly pay period

Weekends:         Yes

Holidays:             Yes

This position reports to the Patient Access Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Greets staff, clients and visitors at the entrance of Mercer Health promptly.
  • Performs quick registration for ED patients.
  • Manages the waiting process and act as a liaison between patients, families and clinical staff.
  • Monitors overall appearance of the hospital entrance.
  • Continually maintains visual surveillance of the ED lobby.
  • Assists patients entering or exiting vehicles as needed.
  • Provides guidance and direction to all persons visiting Mercer Health.
  • Keeps the front access clear and unobstructed for patient/visitor drop-off and pick-up.
  • Communicates effectively with ED staff in high pressure situations.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • More than 90% of the work day is spent sitting.
  • Must be able to communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Skill/Ability:

  • Detail oriented.
  • Written and verbal skills to complete assigned sheets and read and follow policies and procedures, MSDS information, etc.
  • Individual is self-motivated with strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and functions as a team player.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work both independently and as a team player, to exercise good judgment, and to successfully manage a variety/multi tasks.
  • Must have positive service oriented interpersonal skills and work well in a team environment.
  • Heavy Lifting and moving may be involved with this position, weight range of 70 – 100 lbs.
  • Must have the ability to work in and around patient and staff areas.
  • Individual must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
