More than 1,100 local students recently visited Mercer County Community Hospital to participate in the interactive Play Hospital and Medical Explorers programs, which Mercer Health offers annually.
Between March 18 and March 22, more than 400 freshman students from Celina, Coldwater, Ft. Recovery, Marion Local, Parkway and St. Henry toured the hospital to learn about careers in healthcare as well as the services that Mercer Health provides to the community. Students got a behind-the-scenes look at the operations of the hospital and had the opportunity to tour areas of the Sanderell Family West Wing, which opened its doors in October 2018.
During the week of April 1 – 5, more than 700 kindergarteners from all Mercer County elementary schools, as well as students from Versailles Elementary School in Darke County, participated in Mercer Health’s Play Hospital program. Play Hospital is a hands-on opportunity for young students to learn about healthcare. The students tour the hospital and see presentations from the Emergency, Medical Imaging, Childbirth Center, Community Sports & Therapy, Inpatient Services, Surgical Services and Infection Prevention Departments, as well as tour an ambulance and complete activities on healthy living.
