Mercer Health and Community Sports & Therapy Center are excited to offer a four part educational series to student athletes, parents, coaches and trainers in the community.
Each hour long session, held weekly for four consecutive weeks, focuses on information to promote the health and performance of fall sport athletes. Topics, presented by pediatric, nutrition and exercise experts from Mercer Health and Community Sports & Therapy Center, include:
- Injury prevention
- Overall and pre/post game nutrition
- Maximizing performance
- Supplements and hydration
"We often receive questions from parents and coaches about how to make sure kids are at their best during their sports seasons,” Jen Bills, APRN, Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Mercer Health's Weight Management Center said. “The best way to keep them healthy and performing at the top of the their game is to focus on their nutrition and hydration and to prevent injuries.”
The series runs on Wednesdays from June 5 – 26 beginning at 6 p.m. for junior high athletes and younger and at 7:15 p.m. for high school athletes and older. The education fee is $100 for the full series. All sessions will be held at Mercer County Community Hospital. Registration and pre-payment is required.
