Community spread of COVID-19 continues in the Mercer County area. Mercer Health and Mercer County Health District urge Mercer County residents to continue to take precautions to protect themselves and those around them from further spread of COVID-19. Testing updates and additional frequently asked questions are outlined below.
In addition, with the significant increase in the number of patients seeking COVID-19 testing, Mercer Health and Mercer County Health District would like to remind the community that all COVID-19 tests require an order and asymptomatic testing is limited, based upon the direction from the ODH. By following this direction, we will be able to strategically and appropriately meet the needs of the community to the best of our ability.

What is COVID-19 priority testing?
Priority testing guidelines ensures testing needs can be met. In Mercer County, priority testing guidelines continue to focus testing on:
1)Symptomatic healthcare workers
2)Any symptomatic resident of Mercer County - and as resources allow –
3)Asymptomatic healthcare workers, non-Mercer County residents who are symptomatic and Mercer County residents who are receiving essential surgeries/procedures or other medically necessary procedures
What is the definition of close contact?
For COVID-19, CDC’s definition of close contact is defined as any individual who was within 6 feet from an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to positive specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated.
Where is testing being done?
Beginning, Wednesday, July 22, COVID-19 testing is being done at the Mercer Health at North Main, located at 115 Summit St. in Celina, near Chief Supermarket. Hours are 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Testing is no longer available at the Mercer County Fairgrounds.

What do I do in case of emergency?
As in any illness, if symptoms become emergent, Mercer Health’s Emergency Department is available. For suspected COVID-19 cases ONLY, please call 419-678-5101 prior to arriving at the Emergency Department to ensure the best care for your situation and the proper safety protocols are in place for other patients, visitors and healthcare employees.
