Position:                Exercise Physiologist

Shift:                      Day Shift- 3 x 8 hour shifts per week

Status:                   Part Time; May evolve into Full Time position in the future to accommodate patient volumes

Weekends:           No

Holidays:                No


This position reports to the Director of Medical Imaging and Cardiopulmonary Services.  


Exercise Physiologist Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in exercise physiology, exercise science or kinesiology
  • Current BLS
  • ACLS within 3 months of hire
  • Proof of routine continuing professional development
  • Current Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (CCRP) or ACSM-CEP certification or must achieve within 24 months of hire
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation  program

  • Individual is self-motivated with strong organizational skills, a positive attitude and functions as a team player.
  • Demonstrates active listening and professional communication skills when dealing with physicians, co-workers, patients and families.
  • Demonstrates assessment skills knowledge of chronic dysfunctions affecting the cardiopulmonary system and their subsequent treatment.
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of routine medications utilized in treatment of cardiac and pulmonary disease.
  • Promotes cardiopulmonary disease prevention, education and wellness.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the physiologic responses and abnormal responses to exercise.
  • Recognize comorbid conditions (e.g. metabolic disorders, musculoskeletal conditions, cardiovascular, pulmonary, neuromuscular, and or psychiatric conditions) and demonstrates an understanding about the possible impact of comorbid conditions on the exercise prescription.
  • Ability to educate and motivate patients to make healthy lifestyle modifications.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and proper application of policies and procedures as outlined in the orientation packet.
  • Demonstrates consistent utilization of techniques and practices that create a safe environment of care.
  • Consistently demonstrates appropriate design, modification and implementation of patient exercise prescription and treatment plan throughout program continuum.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to work with telemetry monitors, recognition and interpretation of dysrhythmias and appropriate response.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills with the ability independently implement emergency response protocols.
  • Demonstrates independent critical thinking skills and prioritization of patient care. 
  • Demonstrates strong computer skills.
  • Assist with committees, special projects, monitoring and additional duties as assigned by management.
