Mercer Health's Childbirth Center will begin offering in person Childbirth and Breastfeeding classes in March 2021. This is subject to change.

Big Brother/Big Sister class and Baby Massage are both canceled until further notice.

Childbirth Education Class

Our childbirth education classes are designed to prepare expectant parents for labor, delivery, and care of the new mom and baby following delivery. Our goal is to eliminate the fear of the unknown. We provide information on the stages of labor, pain management, relaxation, hospital interventions, after delivery care, and newborn care. In fact, a great deal of our last class is dedicated to the care of the baby. Childbirth classes are free to mothers who will be delivering here and are offered from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Online registration is required.

NEW! Weekend Childbirth Education Class

In fact, a great deal of our last class is dedicated to the care of the baby. Weekend childbirth classes are free to mothers who will be delivering here and are offered on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Online registration is required.

Breastfeeding Class

Breastfeeding class provides a basic understanding of breastfeeding. Parents are given information on how to get breastfeeding off to the best start. Class is taught by our board certified lactation consultant who is available after class to discuss any questions more in depth. This class is recommended for first time breastfeeding mothers and mothers who did not meet their breastfeeding goals in the past.  Support people (fathers, grandmothers, sisters) are encouraged to attend class with the mother to be. 

Breastfeeding classes are free to mothers who will be delivering here and are offered from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Online registration is required.
